CALL FOR EXTENDED ABSTRACT

Call for Extended Abstracts: SL-SWCS’23

The Department of Computer Science at the University of Jaffna, Sri Lanka, is pleased to announce SL-SWCS’23, the national research session, scheduled to take place on December 9, 2023. We cordially invite final year undergraduate, MSc, MPhil, and doctoral research students studying in Sri Lanka to submit their high-quality extended abstracts for consideration.

We welcome abstracts that showcase original research contributions and work in progress in various areas of computer science, including but not limited to:

• Artificial Intelligence
• Bioinformatics
• Edge Computing
• Computer Graphics
• Computer Vision
• Computer Networks
• Cyber Security
• Deep Learning
• High-Performance Computing
• Internet of Things
• Machine Learning
• Mobile Computing
• Natural Language Processing
• Pattern Recognition
• Robotics
• Software Engineering
• Web Technologies

Format of the extended abstract:

Extended abstracts should adhere to the following formatting guidelines:

1. Length: Extended abstracts should be no longer than 2 pages, excluding references.
2. Font and Size: Please use Times New Roman font with a font size of 12 points.
3. Structure: The abstract should follow a clear and concise structure, including the following sections:

• Title: Clearly state the title of your research work.
• Author(s): Provide the name(s), and email(s) and affiliation(s) of the author(s). The main author should be a student.
• Abstract: Maximum 250 words.
• Introduction: Present the context, motivation, and background of your research problem.
• Methodology: Describe the research methodology, techniques, or algorithms employed.
• Results and Discussion: Highlight the key findings and analyze their implications.
• Conclusion: Sum up the main contributions and potential future work.
• References: Include a list of cited references using the IEEE citation format.

4. Language: Abstracts must be written in English.

Please send your extended abstract submission by email to slswcs@univ.jfn.ac.lk. Kindly ensure to cc your supervisor and use the subject line “SL Student Workshop Submission”. Additionally, include the name and contact details of your supervisor in the body of the email.

Publication:

The workshop will consist of a single track with both oral and poster presentations. Additionally, all accepted extended abstracts will be published in a book of abstracts.
