Professor A. Ramanan and Professor M. Siyamalan received the NSF SUSRED (Support Scheme for Supervision of Research Degrees) Awards 2023 from the National Science Foundation (NSF) Sri Lanka for supervising postgraduate research degrees, in recognition of their service to the nation. These awards were presented by the Honourable Minister of Education and the Vice Chairman of the University Grants Commission (UGC) of Sri Lanka held on April 4, 2024 at the Ministry of Education auditorium.

• Prof. M. Siyamalan received the award for supervising Dr. (Ms.) R. Nirthika in her Ph.D. thesis titled ‘Deep Learning-Based Fine-Grained Diabetic Retinopathy Image Grading.’
• Prof. A. Ramanan received the award for supervising Dr. M. Shajini in her Ph.D. thesis titled ‘A Semi-Supervised Deep Learning Approach Based on Attentive Visual Features for Fashion Clothing Classification,’ and for co-supervising Dr. (Ms.) R. Nirthika in her Ph.D. thesis titled ‘Deep Learning-Based Fine-Grained Diabetic Retinopathy Image Grading.’
